Creation
This year didn’t start out that well. I was finishing a rewarding job where I affected the lives of really important people. I’d like to think mostly positively. I’m certain some would say I messed up things. This job took a toll on my family and I had to figure out how to shift my mindset.
I was determined to do two things:
First, to take better care of myself. I needed to get in better shape to give myself some longevity for my kids. Dr. David Sinclair, a research scientist at Harvard, says we owe it to our kids to ensure we live as long as we can. Whether we each individually believe it or not, we gain a wealth of information we owe to our children. So here at the end of the year, I’ve lost twenty pounds and regulated a lot of body processes that have enabled me to be better lots of different ways. The biggest change was that I was kinder to myself. My internal voice started to be more temperate and encouraging. A my First Sergeant used to say when I was a company commander, “Take care of the basics, and the rest will fall into place.” Indeed if the basics include being nice to yourself first, then a lot of other things will fall into place.
Second, I need to be more creative. I’ve relied on other people’s songs to entertain folks for over ten years now. I want to write my own. I have a gargantuan amount of beautiful things close to me to write about and a ton of unique experiences to methodize into art and song. This website I’ve started today is the creation.
Thank you all and much love for stopping by…
